Welcome and thank you for visiting Erika Whitehouse Counselling.
I am a fully qualified counsellor with several years’ experience working in private practice. What initially brought me into counselling was a genuine desire for helping and supporting people through difficult times. Life can seem hard and a struggle to navigate when faced alone. Whether its relationship difficulties, anxiety, loss & grief or low mood & depression, talking to a trained professional in a safe and non-judgemental space can be very beneficial.
Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.
I am foremost a Person-Centred Counsellor who will integrate other modalities where necessary, helping you to move forward at your own pace. Whether its dealing with the immediacy of cognitive distortions or delving into past trauma, be assured my therapy space is a safe place to talk through your deepest concerns, worries or angst.
I also have a strong interest in Neurodiversity, and very recently completed a ‘Working Therapeutically with Autistic Adults’ certificate course and am currently aiming toward a Neuroaffirming practice ND.
Here are some of the difficulties that can be supported through:
Feelings of Stress or Anxiety
Depression & Low mood
Relationship Problems (inc. Narcissism)
Neurodiversity Awareness -ND (diagnosed or self-identify)
An Understanding of the Psychology of Eating Disorders -ED
Loss, Grief or Bereavement
Problems with Addiction
Intrusive Thoughts & Panic Disorder
Trauma and Abuse
Concerns & Issues with Confidence or Self esteem

I offer ‘In person’ counselling from my practice based at Dormston Drive, Sedgley Dudley which is easily accessible to those in the Dudley, Wolverhampton and the West Midlands.
I also offer ‘Online’ and ‘Telephone’ counselling. My current online platform is Microsoft Teams and all counselling takes place from a confidential space.

I initially offer a free 15/ 20 minute introductory chat by telephone or online to learn your individual counselling needs and desired outcomes. Along with deciding if working with me feels the right fit and if so, you can then arrange your session at a time to suit you. I offer day and evening appointments (Monday through to Friday) which can be 'in person', 'online' and 'by telephone' and I can work short term or longer term with adults of all ages and backgrounds, cultures and identities.
How long you attend counselling is dependent on the issues or concerns you wish to address. Counselling is self-governing and its frequency and longevity are very much dependent on you individually. Some people feel they can move forward quiet quickly after only a few sessions, whereas others prefer a longer term approach.
I aim to offer an introductory (15-20 minute) telephone chat (online if preferred) within the first few days of your enquiry, during which you can book a counselling session to take place within the next two-week period. Sessions can be booked Monday through to Friday - 5 days a week, & booking times range from - 09.00hrs until 19.30hrs
